Funny old world isn't it?

Endodontics
Many people can be nervous about having root canal treatment as they think it will be a lengthy, painful and expensive procedure but we can assure you this is not the case! Root canals typically cost only £250 (please see our fees).
Root canal treatment (also called Endodontics) is needed when the blood or nerve supply is infected through decay or injury. If the pulp of the tooth becomes infected then an abscess may form and this can be incredibly painful - if nothing is done then the infection may spread and the tooth would have to be removed. Rather than let that happen, it is best to save the tooth by having root canal treatment. Root canal treatment is a skilled and time consuming procedure and here at Haynesdental we have state of the art equipment to ensure our Endodontist is able to provide a high quality of care.
Most courses of root canal treatment take 2 or 3 visits. At the first appointment the Endodontist will do a consultation to see what treatment will be required. Once a treatment plan is agreed, the next appointments are made. The first stage of treatment requires the pulp to be removed and any abcesses drained; for this we have an on-site operating microscope. Next the root canal is cleaned and shaped ready for the filling. A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle. The tooth is then checked at a later visit and when all infection is removed the tooth is filled. It is sometimes necessary to strengthen the tooth with a crown to provide extra support.,
Our Endodontist is Ahmed Al-Khayatt BChD (Leeds), MFDSRCS (Edinburgh) who is a highly qualified Specialist Registrar in Restorative Dentistry at Kings College Hospital.
